WhatsApp and Facebook to share users' data outside Europe and UK

WhatsApp forces clients to agree to transfer information to Facebook in case they need to continue using management.

The organization warns clients in the first notification that "they need to accept these updates in order to continue using WhatsApp" - or delete their records.

However, Facebook, which claims to be WhatsApp, said clients in Europe and the UK would not see similar changes in information sharing, although they had to agree to new terms.

The release was invited by others as a victory for EU defense regulators.

The deadline for the two districts to accept the change is February 8, after which "you will need to be aware of these updates in order to continue using WhatsApp", said the spring agency.

Part of the global protection plan has been removed, which has recently allowed people to stop posting personal information on Facebook for the first 30 days after the process began.

All things considered, the most recent alarms direct clients to their online help site "in case you would like to clear your record".

The move has angered several people on the web - including Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk - for asking clients to switch to other security-focused security such as Signal and Telegram.

Release in Europe

There has been some disagreement over how much improved information sharing will affect EU and UK clients.

The emergence of "major updates" of important changes involving Facebook in a global duplication - but does not do so in the European form of the same page.

Later on Thursday, Facebook confirmed that there would be no reforms in the "European region" - which includes the EU, EEA, and post-Brexit UK.

"With the reduction of any uncertainty, the current situation is that WhatsApp does not share the information of WhatsApp customers in the European region with Facebook for the purpose of keeping Facebook using this information to improve its products or advertisements," the spokesman said.

However, a new form of European consumer safety strategy clearly states that information can be passed on to other Facebook organizations to reflect on the information provided and provided, make material recommendations, and "help" eliminate purchases, among various reasons.

Facebook says it does not use WhatsApp data for that type of regulation in Europe, due to exchanges with European data verification organizations.

Some hold the development to be a triumph of the recently established European guidelines.

Dutch MEP Paul Tang wrote on Twitter: "Facebook rewards itself for all our WhatsApp information unless you…. You live in the EU.

"That's why data security is so important."

What is collected elsewhere?

The fraudulent information collected by WhatsApp - and now provided by Facebook to non-Europeans - is found in the relevant records that formulate security policies and strategies.

In a FAQ post, WhatsApp said it shared a wide range of customer information with other Facebook organizations, including:

  • phone number and other information provided in the registration, (for example, name)

  • data about your phone, including configuration, model, and various configurations

  • your IP address, which shows the location of your web organization

  • any installments and currency transactions made via WhatsApp

However, it said it could also share any information included in its security strategy - which could include contacts, notifications, when people use WhatsApp and for how long, and be one of the numbers that separate customer calls.

Facebook has not yet responded to a request for an explanation as to why it has issued an unexpected development.
