Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Galaxy S23 series keynote, and the rumor mill is actively reporting on Samsung's moves to keep tech channels on their toes. In line with tradition, the successors of the Galaxy S22 series could break coverage in early 2023. However, official information is not known.
It seems that the compact Samsung Galaxy S23 has just been indexed in the Geekbech database, revealing some of its key specifications, but not the whole range. As usual, the phone's model number, CPU specs, performance score, GPU, RAM and Android version were listed in the list. Let's see.
It's important to note that the model number on the list corresponds to the US variant of the Galaxy S23, which means a Snapdragon chipset in that market instead of an Exynos. The motherboard of this phone, codenamed Kalama, is evidently equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the future flagship SoC of 2023.
The SoC has eight cores. One of them is a powerful alpha core clocked at 3.36 GHz; four are effective cores clocked at 2.80 GHz and the rest are base cores clocked at 2.02 GHz. The chipset of the upcoming addition to Samsung's price catalog will match the most efficient silicon of the Apple A16 smartphone. The integrated GPU performer will be the Adreno 740.
With the SoC, we should see 8GB of RAM and OneUI 5 based on Android 13 paired with 128GB of storage. The extended variant gets 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.
Looking at the performance scores, the Galaxy S23 scored 1524 points in the single-core test and 4597 points in the multi-core test. The score is almost as good as the A16 on the iPhone 14 Pros. And that probably wraps up the Geekbench specs. It's the start of a long parade of leaks and discoveries, and more details are bound to surface. We will keep you informed about everything.
