A few weeks ago, rumors about a new Vivo Fold phone started circulating on tech blogs. Tipsters were under the impression that the device was to be called the X Fold S; its latest appearance on the TENAA certification link suggests otherwise.
The next-gen Vivo Fold on TENAA suggests a China launch is imminent. According to the document, the manufacturer calls it Vivo X Fold+ 5G. Aside from the name, it outlines some exciting details about the upcoming foldable device.
For starters, the 5G added to the moniker means a 5G-enabled processor alongside the N41, N78, N79, N1 and N28 antenna bands. The phone is now confirmed to run Android 12 out of the box, likely with the Origin OS Ocean skin.
The certificate also specifies the battery capacity of the latest X Vivo mobile phone; The X Fold Plus 5G will use the same 4600mAh battery and 66W charging speed as the original X Fold. Both halves of the fold will contain 2300mAh cells, each with a total capacity of 4600mAh.
Earlier leaks suggest that the engine under the hood of the X Fold Plus 5G is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip – a SoC based on a 4nm manufacturing process for minimal battery life and flagship performance. It's a significant step up from the X Fold 8 Gen 1 chip in terms of power-to-performance ratio. The specs aren't official yet, so take these details with a grain of salt.
The official announcement of Vivo X Fold+ 5G cannot be far behind after the certification. The foldable will likely be born and sold only in China, just like the last generation X Fold. We'll let you know if anything new comes up.
